In the game of tennis, players run around the court but, between one shot and the next in normal (not decisive) exchanges, try to come to back to the center of the baseline.
You come back home at the end of every day in office. If you are out of station, you return to your base sooner of later.
Swift execution requires running around and frequent give and take between people. Alertness is the key but it doesn't manifest on its own in normal conditions. Alertness depends on timely memory of everything that needs to be accomplished. When the mind's wandering left, right and center in the wake of executional challenges, Cockpit serves as that center, that base, that home. You return to it every time and it triggers the move every time.
